Thursday's 10-game NHL schedule featured the Ducks beating the Flyers in Anaheim and the Penguins baffling the Kings in Los Angeles.
1. Will the Blue Jackets end their three-game losing streak?
After winning a franchise record eight games in a row and climbing into the top-three of the Metropolitan Division, the Blue Jackets enter their game on Thursday against Washington riding a three-game losing streak and tied with the Capitals for fifth place in the Division. Needless to say, that's two big points on the line. Will the Blue Jackets get back to their winning ways?
2. Will Alex Ovechkin extend his goal scoring streak?
Ovechkin has goals in three straight games for the Capitals and is coming off a two-goal effort in an overtime win against the Buffalo Sabres earlier this week. He's scored seven goals in the past eight games he's appeared in. Will he keep it going and extend his league lead against Columbus?
3. What will the Sharks do after a tough loss in Edmonton on Wednesday?
The Sharks complete their trip through Alberta on Thursday when visit the Calgary Flames. What will they do after being on the wrong end of a record-setting performance by Edmonton's Ben Scrivens on Wednesday? The Sharks attempted 100 shots against the Oilers and put 59 on net but failed to score a single goal. The odds of that are staggering. Since 1987 41 teams, including the Sharks, have recorded at least 55 shots on goal in a regular season game. Before the Sharks, every single one of those teams scored at least two goals in their game. Thirty one of them scored at least three. What will the Sharks do on Thursday?
4. Will Jonathan Bernier have to face 40 shots for Toronto?
In his last outing Maple Leafs goalie Jonathan Bernier had to stop 40 of 42 shots against the Tampa Bay Lightning to help steal a win for his team. It was already the 10th time this season (37 appearances) that he's had to face at least 40 shots in a single game. As a team, Toronto has asked its goalies to stop more than 40 shots 16 times this season, more than any other team in the league. The only other team that's allowed more than 10 is Buffalo (11).
5. Will the Kings score two goals?
The Kings haven't been able to score recently and haven't scored more than one goal in four straight games. Over their past 18 games they've been limited to one goal or less nine times. Can they find some offense against the Pittsburgh Penguins?
