1. Can the Capitals end their four-game losing streak?
The Capitals have been slumping recently, and enter play Thursday riding a four-game losing streak. Even worse, they've lost seven of their last nine games and currently find themselves on the outside of the Eastern Conference playoff picture. Can they get back to their winning ways against the Tampa Bay Lightning?
2. Will Jaromir Jagr keep climbing the NHL's all-time leaderboard?
If he records one point against the Dallas Stars, Jaromir Jagr will move ahead of Mario Lemieux for sole possession of seventh place on the NHL's all-time scoring list. Jagr assisted on an Adam Henrique goal in his last game to tie his former teammate with 1,723 points. Can he get a point against one of his former teams?
3. Will the Los Angeles Kings score more than two goals?
Los Angeles has lost six of its last seven games, and a slumping offense is perhaps the biggest culprit as the team has scored just 10 goals over that stretch. That includes a pair of shutout losses and only one game with more than two goals. It's probably not a good time to be facing the Boston Bruins. Can the Kings score more than two goals in this one?
4. Will the Wild extend its winning streak?
After a dreadful month of December, the Minnesota Wild have started 2014 on a high note with three straight wins. Can they get their fourth consecutive win when they travel to Phoenix? Both teams enter the game with 51 points, tied for the last wild card spot in the Western Conference, but the Coyotes have played three fewer games.
5. Will Jeff Skinner score for the Hurricanes?
Carolina can tie the Toronto Maple Leafs in the standings with a regulation win Thursday, and if the Hurricanes are able to win there is a good chance Jeff Skinner will have something to do with it. Skinner has been on a roll recently with 17 goals in his last 18 games, including two hat tricks. He is shooting 23 percent (17 goals on 72 shots) over that stretch. Will he find the back of the net once again against the Maple Leafs?
