(SB Nation) -- Jonathan Quick and the Los Angeles Kings will be married for quite some time. The team announced Thursday that they've signed Quick to a 10-year contract extension that will go into effect in July 2013. RDS reports the deal is worth $58 million, or a cap hit of $5.8 million per year.

Quick is already under contract for the 2012-13 season under the three-year deal he signed in 2010-11.The new contract will keep Quick in black and silver until the 2022-23 season.

The Kings were fast to brag about the contract on Twitter, saying, "To clarify, that's 10 years after next year -- so 11 years in total of our goaltender being better than yours."

Quick led the Kings to their first-ever Stanley Cup in 2011-12, winning the Conn Smythe Trophy as postseason MVP and the Vezina Trophy. He earned $1.5 million per season under his last deal and the assumption is that this new deal will bring him much more than that relatively paltry sum.
