The biggest and brightest from the past week in fantasy hockey.
3rd Star, from the St. Louis Blues, number 25, Chris Stewart! With six goals this week, Stewart doubled the goal output of the next best players (14 tied at three goals each). A bit of a lucky week for Stewart, as he scored on 75% of his eight shots. He didn't do much otherwise (one assist, two PIM, no hits, no blocks), but hey, goals are goals.
2nd Star, from the Pittsburgh Penguins, number 87, Sidney Crosby! We should give props to Matt Duchene here too, as he posted very similar stats, but Crosby had a better +/- (+7 vs. +3), more PIM (6 vs. 2), and a far better FO% (54 vs. 40.8). Crosby's final tally: two goals, six assists, plus-7, six PIM, 15 shots and 64-46 in faceoffs.
1st Star, from the Los Angeles Kings, number 35, Martin Jones! Yep, for the second week running Jones takes home first star honours. This week he brought you a 3-0 record with a shutout and 0.98/.963 peripherals. He tied the NHL record for most consecutive wins to start a career (8), and for leagues that count such things, he even put up an assist on Tyler Toffoli's second period goal against San Jose on Thursday. Considering the latest Jonathan Quick update is only "less soreness", it looks like the Jones train will continue to roll for the next while.

Rookie Star of the Week: Mark Scheifele. After a slow start to the year, Scheifele has really picked it up, with points in 11 of his last 14 games, and he seems to have settled in nicely on a line with Evander Kane and Michael Frolik. In four games this week, Scheifele finished with three goals, three assists, plus-2, four PIM, nine shots, five hits and two blocked shots.
Breakout Star of the Week: Tyson Barrie. The 22 year-old D-man more than doubled season output this week, going 2+2-4 in four games to get to a whopping eight points on the year. He also had eight PIM, five shots and six hits this week, and is getting substantial PP time: 4:32, 7:54, 3:55 and 5:07 were his per-game totals.
Breakdown of the Week: David Perron (and all Edmonton Oilers). He's had a decent year overall, with 27 points in 34 games, but none of those points came in his last five games. This week, over three games Perron managed zero points and a minus-5, but when your team scores a grand total of two goals in a three-game stretch, you're fucked no matter how you slice it.
