The nine-game NHL slate on Tuesday night was highlighted by the Kings beating the Ducks in a shootout in Anaheim, with Martin Jones stopping all nine shots during the shootout.
1. Will teams with winning streaks extend their run?
Four teams in the NHL presently have extended winning streaks, as the Chicago Blackhawks have won six straight, the San Jose Sharks have won five straight, the Detroit Red Wings have won four straight and the Pittsburgh Penguins have won three straight. Three of those teams will be in action on Tuesday night, as Chicago hosts the Dallas Stars, Pittsburgh challenges the New York Islanders and San Jose travels to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
2. Will Toronto end their four-game winless streak?
The Maple Leafs have gone four straight without a win and will be hosting the red-hot Sharks. Toronto has allowed three goals or more over that span and have been outscored 19-9. James Reimer has been confirmed as the starter while Nazem Kadri missed morning skate due to a family matter and will not be available for Tuesday's game.
3. Will the New York Islanders allow three goals or more against the Penguins?
The Islanders have gone six games without a win and have allowed three goals or more in each contest. New York is 2-7-1 in their last 10 games, which includes a 4-3 loss to the Penguins two weeks ago.
4. How will the Dallas Stars perform without Tyler Seguin?
Seguin is suffering from concussion-like symptoms and is not expected to play against the Blackhawks on Tuesday night. Seguin is second on the team in total points (23) behind line mate Jamie Benn (24). While Seguin's absence have any impact on Benn?
5. Will Evgeni Malkin jump Sidney Crosby for the league lead in scoring?
There was a time when Malkin was in a slump and people questioned what was wrong with him. Feel free to hysterically laugh about that now. Malkin has recorded at least one point in eight straight and sits one point behind Crosby (36) for the league lead in points. Crosby on the other hand has been slumping, as the forward has gone one full game without a point after recording six in his previous three games.
