There's no word on how long Kopitar will be out.
The Los Angeles Kings, already short on dynamic offensive forwards, lost their best goal scorer on Sunday after a rough hit behind the net.
Center Anze Kopitar left the game against the Columbus Blue Jackets in the second period when Blue Jackets defenseman Tim Erixon leveled him behind the net.
The hit itself looked a bit painful considering Erixon's knee took Kopitar's legs right out from under him. Kopitar left the ice and didn't return, suffering from what the Kings are calling an upper-body injury. We'll have to wait to hear from coach Darryl Sutter after the game to know just how severe the injury is.
The Kings went on to win 5-2, proving that they might have the depth to contend if Kopitar is out for an extended period of time.
