The Kings' netminder made 40 saves in Los Angeles' 2-1 win over Minnesota. Elsewhere, Martin St. Louis scored his first goal of the season in New York.
The San Jose Sharks are in the middle of a lengthy East Cost road trip, so starter Anttii Niemi got the night off in New York. His replacement Alex Stalock must have thought he'd be riding the bench because he didn't look ready to play at all on Sunday.
After numerous misplays with the puck and poor rebounds, Stalock finally got burned when he tried to play the puck off a faceoff at center ice. When you decide to play the puck, you have to commit to it. Stalock hesitated, and Rick Nash easily stole it and slipped it under his five-hole to give New York a 3-1 lead heading into the third period.
